About:

The Applied Optimization Group at UPRM is dedicated to the development and application of methods for statistical characterization, mathematical modeling and optimization for the solution of relevant problems in Engineering and the Sciences. The group currently focuses on two research lines: (1) manufacturing optimization and (2) biological data analysis. In (1) we seek methods to identify competitive design and process settings with a low number of experimental or simulation runs, and in (2) we seek for data analysis strategies for cancer diagnosis/prognosis and biomarker discovery.

 

Infrastructure:

Our group manages the Bio_IE_Lab, located in II-116, in the Industrial Engineering Department at UPRM.

The Bio_IE_Lab consist of the following resources: 4 MacPro Workstations with: MacOS and Windows, Matlab, DEA Solver Pro, Minitab, Arena and LINDO.
