The Alpha Pi Mu Association and Industrial Engineering Honor Society was founded in 1949 by James T. French, a senior Industrial Engineering student attending Georgia Institute of Technology. French along with nine other men, all members of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society, constituted the original membership of Alpha Pi Mu. The purpose upon which French and the other nine students structured the Alpha Pi Mu Association was their ideal of providing a common ground upon which outstanding young engineers could exchange ideas and gain experience that could promote their professional development.
Since its inception, our student chapter of the Alpha Pi Mu, ΑΠΜ-UPRM, has had 34 years of continuous service to the Industrial Engineering department and community.
